Itinerary to visit the Beiras Region
Located in the heart of the center of Portugal, the Municipality of Vouzela is the right choice to spend the holidays with your family or friends. In addition to the cultural, natural and architectural wealth, the municipality is close to several population centers and, consequently, to several points of interest that are worth knowing.
It is in this sense that we advise you to stay overnight in our region and, during the day, visit the localities that surround us. To make this possible, we have created a list of itineraries and activities to help you plan your vacation:
Routes and Itineraries
The realization of trails and other walking routes is the best way to get to know a region and the people who inhabit it. With this in mind, the Municipality of Vouzela created a series of routes that run through the parishes and some of their most important points. These routes can be found on the City Hall website, or in the article “Four routes and routes to get to know the best of Vouzela”.
River Beaches
In the height of summer, there is nothing better than a dip in clean and calm waters to cool off. River beaches are the best option for those in the interior of the country. The municipality of Vouzela has a series of river beaches that can be found in the Tourism tab.
Thermal and Spa
Thermalism has been one of the most sought after activities by tourists in our country. Also close to Vouzela you can find some resorts, such as the Termas de São Pedro do Sul, the Termas de Sangemil and the Termas do Carvalhal.
Historic villages in Portugal
It is in the historic villages that the best memories of the Kings and the battles that Portugal fought are kept. Known for their medieval castles and granite and shale constructions, they are an example of the authenticity of our people. Among the twelve historic villages in Portuguese territory, we highlight Piódão, Linhares da Beira, Trancoso and Marialva
Shale Villages
Consisting of a network of 27 villages in the interior of Portugal, the Schist Villages are one of the best examples of landscape and cultural preservation of our territory. Here we highlight villages such as Vila Cova de Alva, Aldeia das 10 and Benfeita.
Serra da Estrela
Despite being known as the highest mountain in mainland Portugal, Serra da Estrela is a place of great biodiversity and scenic beauty. Whether in summer or winter, we advise you to visit this region during your stay.
Viseu
Located about 30 minutes from Vouzela, Viseu is a must-see during your visit. Here you can visit the Historic Center, the Cathedral and its museums, as well as carry out a series of activities, often organized by the Municipality.
Cruises on the Douro
There are several routes you can take on the Douro River. This is perhaps the best-known tourist activity in the region and allows you to discover the vineyards that comprise it, as well as its biodiversity.
