Giesta is a shrub species, characterized by its flexible branches and white or yellow flower, used for medicinal purposes and fiber extraction. Often used as a broom in Portugal, this plant can reach up to three meters in height.
The Giesta plant can be found in acidic soils, characterized by the presence of sand, granite, schist and quartz. It is very common in the north and center of the country.
